Some exotic summer reads

After mentioning the other day that I enjoy both mystery stories and books set in (or about) Asia, I listed a few of my favourite mystery writers but failed to share any recommendations for Asian-flavoured books! We're all stocking up on holiday reading so here are a few books I've enjoyed lately.

Novels ...

Questions of Travel by Michelle de Kretser
The Sweet and Simple Kind by Yasmine Gooneratne
The Last Chinese Chef by Nicole Mones

Short stories ...

Kebaya Tales: Of Matriarchs, Maidens, Mistresses and Matchmakers by Su Kim Lee

... and travellers' tales
