A fabulous Valentine's Day treat to make for your beloved. (You're welcome!)

According to one of my favourite blogs, Get Rich Slowly, the average (presumably American) person is planning to spend $130 on Valentine's Day this year. Really? I've often ranted here about how much I hate clutter, so you can probably tell I'll neither be spending that much, nor expecting anyone to spend that much on me ... and that's just fine! Here's what I'm planning to make instead.

50 g meringues (ready made, or easily made from scratch)
150 ml fresh cream
100 g fresh raspberries (or defrosted frozen raspberries, if they're not in season where you are)

Whip the cream. Smash the meringues up a bit, then combine the cream, meringues and raspberries. Pile into two cute bowls and share with your cutie.

Not sure what to call this dessert. A deconstructed pavlova,
perhaps? Anyway, enjoy!

Yum! That's pretty much Eton Mess, isn't it?

By the way, we don't do anything for Valentine's Day either

Oh yes! I'd never heard of Eton Mess, but just Googled it and you're quite right. Agree re: Valentine's Day ... I think we should be nice to our other halves all year round, not just on the 14th of February! ;-) k
