Chatterbox Espresso Bar is a newish café in Belconnen, around the corner from the library and a couple of blocks from the mall. It is at the bottom of an office block. We stumbled across it recently and noticed the menu looked pretty good! We tried the brekkie yesterday.
He had brioche French toast served with caramelised
banana and maple syrup, and a long black
She had the potato stack – layered potato rosti with cottage
cheese, poached eggs and smoked salmon, and a flat white
They were yummy, and the service was cheerful! The menu features some great-sounding dishes – such as smashed avocado with basil, feta and poached eggs; truffled eggs; mushroom bruschetta; and baked eggs with spiced minced lamb – so we'll have to go back and try a few more options. Cute décor too ...
Update: Sunday 29 March 2015
We went back to Chatterbox today. The menu has changed – the French toast has disappeared and many dishes are now available in smaller portions. We figure this is so that kids can enjoy kid-sized meals ... not the usual café 'children's meals' consisting of greasy rubbish, but actual food. An excellent idea! Here's what we ate this time:
Still good. Still friendly too!
He had the grilled chorizo basket: tomato-infused beans,
chorizo and a poached egg served in a tortilla basket with crisp bread
She had smashed avocado with fresh basil, Persian
feta and poached free range eggs on toast
Still good. Still friendly too!
