Brekkie @ Northside Garden Café, Nicholls

Last month we met up with a couple of newcomers to Canberra for breakfast at Eighty/Twenty in Braddon and found ourselves chatting about exotic breakfast options in Canberra. Specifically, Asian brekkie options. Our friends had recently been to Cup & Coaster in Fyshwick and mentioned there were some Filipino dishes on the menu. (We haven't been there yet but plan to go.) Which reminded me that there are a few other Filipino eateries in town! I've been to the fabulous Lolo and Lola in Watson several times, but (whoops) forgotten to blog about it. We'd also heard that the Northside Garden Café in Nicholls had Filipino offerings so we went there for breakfast a couple of weeks ago. Delicious food and friendly service. I had:

Tapsilog: marinated beef, fried egg, garlic fried rice,
cucumber, tomato and house spiced vinegar

while Andrew had:

Bacsilog: crispy bacon, fried egg, cheese sauce, garlic
fried rice, cucumber, tomato and house spiced vinegar

If you, like me, are craving Asian delights for breakfast, other local options include:

plus there are always lots of interesting choices (Indian, Egyptian, Japanese) at Stand By Me in Lyons.

Enjoy!
