Brekkie @ 39 Steps

Recently a friend and I went to the delightful Tu Do Vietnamese restaurant for lunch, and noticed a new cafe had appeared nearby. I'm always interested in trying new brekkie options so made a mental note to eat at 39 Steps sometime. Last night Andrew and I checked out their menu on the intertubes, and liked what we saw. Ricotta pancakes! Cannellini bean cassoulet! Sounded delightful. So this morning we jumped on the treadlies and braved Canberra's frosty weather to try the place out.

Well, there's good and bad news. The good news is that the food was yummy and plentiful, the coffee good, the service friendly and efficient, and the décor cute. The bad news is that all the fun stuff we were looking forward to was no longer on the menu! Sigh.

He had:

The big brekkie (eggs, bacon, chipolatas, roast tomato, mushrooms,
hash brown and sourdough toast) and a long black

She had:

Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon, and a flat white

Here's the actual menu:

Maybe I'll try the potato rosti or zucchini and corn fritters next time.

Memo to 39 Steps ... please update your website! Cheers.
